Buccaneers' Carlton Davis Exudes Confidence Despite Brady's Departure

Following Tom Brady's retirement and departure from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, many are questioning the team's prospects for the 2023 season. However, cornerback Carlton Davis III is brimming with confidence, asserting that the Buccaneers are ready to defy expectations.

In a recent interview with GoLongTD.com, Davis proclaimed, "We're about to do it to 'em. Anybody who feels we've lost Tom, and lost something, is going to be in for a rude awakening." He emphasized that football is a team sport and the Buccaneers still possess the necessary components for success, adding, "I'm only getting better."

Davis's confidence extends to the Buccaneers' division rivals. Despite the NFC South seeing some changes, including the Saints acquiring Derek Carr, the Panthers drafting Bryce Young, and the Falcons adding Bijan Robinson, Davis believes the division is weaker than last year. He envisions the Buccaneers dominating the division, making a playoff run, and ultimately reaching the Super Bowl.

He also boasts about the Buccaneers' defensive prowess, predicting a flurry of interceptions, turnovers, and game-changing plays. "We're going to wreck s---," Davis stated emphatically. "Interceptions. Turnovers. Plays will be made."

While the loss of Brady is significant, the Buccaneers still have a talented roster. Two-time All-Pro Tristan Wirfs anchors the offensive line, while star receiver Mike Evans is reportedly negotiating a contract extension. Key players like Chris Godwin, Antoine Winfield Jr., Lavonte David, Devin White, and Shaquil Barrett are also returning. Davis himself re-signed with the team this offseason.

Davis's unwavering belief in his team suggests a determination to prove that their Super Bowl victory with Brady was not a fluke. His optimism and confidence will undoubtedly be a driving force for the Buccaneers in the upcoming season, and it remains to be seen if it will translate into on-field success. As Davis puts it, "Nobody knows s--- until it happens."
