Immigration Groups Urge Trump and GOP to Prioritize Mass Deportations

As President-elect Trump prepares to take office, a coalition of prominent immigration groups is calling on him and Congressional Republicans to prioritize mass deportations and strengthen border security. These groups, including Heritage Action for America, NumbersUSA, the National Immigration Center for Enforcement, and the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), emphasize the urgency of these measures and urge swift action.

In a letter obtained by Fox News Digital, the coalition stresses that work must begin immediately due to various constraints, including Congressional schedules, potential legal challenges, and the intricacies of law enforcement operations. They argue that mass deportations and robust border security are not merely political talking points but are fundamental to public safety, national security, and protecting American workers.

The coalition asserts that the 2023 House-passed GOP border bill, while a significant step, should be a starting point, not the final goal. They advocate for using the budget reconciliation process to implement further measures. These recommendations include allocating resources for deportations, closing legal loopholes, reducing funding to certain nonprofits, and prioritizing American workers over foreign labor. Importantly, they explicitly state their opposition to any form of amnesty.

The groups believe that restoring order to the immigration system and upholding the rule of law are crucial and that the American public expects action on these fronts. Rosemary Jenks, policy director at the Immigration and Accountability Project, underscores the need for Congress to provide the necessary resources, such as ICE ERO officers and detention facilities, to enable President Trump to carry out mass deportations and address the perceived consequences of the Biden administration's policies.

When ICE goes out, they will know ‘exactly’ who they are looking for, Tom Homan warns

Reports indicate that the incoming administration plans to initiate mass immigration arrests from day one. Border czar Tom Homan has stated that ICE will enforce immigration laws rigorously, prioritizing public safety threats but making it clear that anyone in the country illegally will face consequences.
