Two years after a suspension for marijuana use, Sha'Carri Richardson reclaimed victory in the 100-meter race at the US Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Her winning time of 10.82 seconds on Friday night edged out competitors Brittany Brown (10.90) and Tamari Davis (10.99).

Richardson's victory is particularly significant given her past suspension following a positive marijuana test at the 2021 Olympic trials, where she had initially secured a spot on the team. Reflecting on her journey, Richardson stated in a post-victory interview, "I’m ready mentally, physically and emotionally, and I’m here to stay. I'm not back, I'm better." She is now set to compete in the upcoming world championships in Budapest, Hungary.
In July 2021, following the announcement of her suspension, Richardson appeared on "TODAY" to offer an apology and discuss the emotional toll of her mother's passing, which occurred shortly before the trials. She candidly shared the difficulty of navigating personal grief while maintaining a public persona. Richardson also highlighted the pressures of her burgeoning professional career, amplified by the pandemic's disruptions.

Richardson's recent performance follows a strong showing on Thursday, where she ran a 10.71 in the opening heats. This impressive time comes shortly after Jamaica's Shericka Jackson achieved a remarkable 10.65 at the Jamaican championships.
