Former President Donald Trump has unveiled several appointments for his upcoming second term, including significant roles in media and international diplomacy. Kari Lake, a former Arizona broadcaster and candidate for public office, has been nominated to lead the Voice of America (VOA). Trump emphasized Lake's role in ensuring the broadcast of American values globally, contrasting it with what he termed "lies spread by the Fake News Media."

The VOA, a government-funded broadcaster, disseminates news and cultural content in over 40 languages across various platforms. Lake's appointment aims to reshape the organization's direction and messaging.
In the diplomatic sphere, Trump has nominated Dr. Peter Lamelas, a Cuban-American physician, philanthropist, and businessman, as the U.S. Ambassador to Argentina. Trump highlighted Lamelas's journey from fleeing communist Cuba to achieving the American Dream, founding MD Now Urgent Care, Florida's largest urgent care system. Lamelas has also served on the Department of Justice's Medal of Valor Review Board and held public office in Florida.

Daniel Newlin, a law enforcement veteran and personal injury attorney, has been nominated as the U.S. Ambassador to Colombia. Newlin's extensive experience in law enforcement and business, including founding a prominent personal injury law firm, positions him as a strong advocate for U.S. interests, according to Trump. He served for 28 years with the Orange County (Florida) Sheriff's Office.

These appointments are part of a series of nominations put forth by the former president, awaiting Senate approval. They represent key selections in media leadership and international relations, reflecting Trump's priorities for his second term.
