Unidentified Drone Activity Investigated Near Trump's Bedminster Golf Club

Recent drone activity in northern and central New Jersey has prompted an investigation by officials, including temporary flight restrictions imposed by the FAA over Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy confirmed discussions with state, federal, and Homeland Security officials, including Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, regarding the drone activity near the former president's golf club. While emphasizing there's no current threat to public safety, Murphy stated the situation is being actively monitored in coordination with law enforcement partners.

Sightings have been reported in Somerset and Morris counties, with one video from November 25th showing drones flying over Black River Middle School in Chester, Morris County. Bedminster's Trump National Golf Club is situated in neighboring Somerset County.

Additional drone sightings have been documented in Bernardsville, Mendham, and Parsippany. The FAA responded to the unusual activity on November 18th by implementing two temporary flight restrictions, one specifically encompassing the airspace above Trump's property and extending until the end of the week. The other restriction covers the airspace above Picatinny Arsenal Military Base.

Rep. Tom Kean (R-N.J.) participated in a call with Murphy, Mayorkas, and other officials, and pledged to press federal authorities for a transparent investigation and resolution. State Senator Anthony Bucco (R) reported drones flying over his residence but confirmed assurances of no immediate threat. Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-N.J.) committed to staying informed and sharing updates as the investigation unfolds.

Staten Island Borough President Vito Fossella has requested the FBI extend its investigation to cover Staten Island airspace. He cited an incident where drone flights interfered with a medevac helicopter transporting a crash victim in Branchburg Township, New Jersey, and expressed concern about potential impacts on medical emergencies given Staten Island's two hospital systems.
