Newly appointed Attorney General Pam Bondi wasted no time in making changes at the Department of Justice. Just weeks into the Trump administration, Bondi personally removed the portraits of former President Joe Biden, former Vice President Kamala Harris, and her predecessor, Merrick Garland, from the department's walls.
This action, initially reported by Miranda Devine of the New York Post and confirmed by a DOJ official to Fox News Digital, underscores Bondi's commitment to a fresh start at the Justice Department. The official explained that Bondi, upon seeing the portraits still hanging, took it upon herself to remove and stack them in a corner.
The removal of the portraits follows Bondi's pledge during her January confirmation hearing to depoliticize the Justice Department and eliminate what she termed "partisanship" and "weaponization." Bondi, a seasoned prosecutor and former Florida Attorney General, emphasized her commitment to a "one tier of justice for all."
During Bondi's swearing-in ceremony, President Trump praised her fairness and expressed confidence in her ability to restore impartial justice to the department. While acknowledging the expectation of impartiality, Trump expressed his belief that Bondi would be as unbiased "as a person can be."
