Former Acting ICE Director Tom Homan delivered a fiery address at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), promising a relentless crackdown on criminal aliens and transnational terror groups. Homan, who spearheaded border security efforts under the Trump administration, touted significant progress, claiming a 95% reduction in illegal crossings. He stated that daily “gotaways” have plummeted from 1,800 in 2023 to just 48, while emphasizing his commitment to achieving zero unauthorized entries.
Homan highlighted the administration's achievements, reporting 21,000 arrests of illegal aliens in Trump's first month back in office. He declared his unwavering resolve to eradicate criminal alien gang members and organizations like Venezuela's Tren de Aragua and El Salvador's MS-13, both recently designated as foreign terrorist organizations. He issued a stern warning to these groups and anyone supporting them, promising their complete elimination.

Homan directly addressed critics who questioned the apprehension of individuals without criminal charges alongside criminal aliens, asserting that entering the country illegally constitutes a crime. He reiterated the administration's commitment to enforcing existing immigration laws. He also took aim at sanctuary cities and states, vowing to confront their non-cooperation with federal immigration authorities. He specifically called out Boston Police Commissioner Michael Cox for upholding sanctuary policies, pledging to bring pressure upon the city.

Homan underscored the positive impact of enhanced border security on public safety, arguing that fewer illegal crossings translate to fewer instances of rape, fentanyl overdoses, terrorism, and human trafficking. He expressed gratitude for the dedication of federal law enforcement officers, particularly those within ICE and Border Patrol, praising their service to the nation.
