Former NFL linebacker Clark Haggans, a key member of the Pittsburgh Steelers' Super Bowl XL championship team, has passed away at the age of 46. The news was initially shared by Colin Dunlap of Audacy 93.7 The Fan. The cause of death has not yet been released.

Haggans, a fifth-round draft pick by the Steelers in 2000 from Colorado State University, played for the team from 2000 to 2007. He made a significant impact during the Steelers' Super Bowl XL victory, recording five tackles and a sack of Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck. He holds the all-time sack record at Colorado State with 33 and was inducted into the university's Athletics Hall of Fame.

Following his time in Pittsburgh, Haggans played for the Arizona Cardinals and the San Francisco 49ers. Over his NFL career, he amassed 520 tackles, 46.5 sacks, and 16 forced fumbles. Beyond his on-field accomplishments, Haggans was a dedicated advocate for raising awareness about child abuse. In 2012, he became the first player to support the Black Out Child Abuse campaign, using blackout paint on his face to draw attention to the cause. He is survived by two children.
