Whittier Fuel Dock Fire Injures Two, Sinks Boat

A fuel dock fire in Whittier, Alaska, resulted in two injuries and the sinking of a vessel on Tuesday. Fisherman Fletcher Morrison, present at the Whittier Harbor during the incident, reported hearing an explosion around midday as a boat refueling at the dock caught fire, subsequently sinking. Emergency responders from Whittier and Girdwood were dispatched to the scene, and two individuals received medical evaluation before being transported by a medical evacuation service, according to Girdwood Fire Chief Michelle Weston. Weston later confirmed the fire was contained.
