Florida Representative Byron Donalds has leveled accusations against political appointees within the Department of Justice, claiming they deliberately concealed bribery allegations targeting the Biden family. Speaking on "America's Newsroom," Donalds contended that an FBI document detailing the alleged bribery scheme should have been made public long ago and suggested this concealment could constitute obstruction of justice.
Donalds argued that these political appointees at the DOJ obstructed justice to prevent the information from surfacing. He also pointed to the now-debunked claim by 51 intelligence community figures, including the current Secretary of State, that the Hunter Biden laptop story was Russian disinformation, further highlighting what he sees as a pattern of obfuscation. Donalds asserted that the FBI's stance is untenable and that the form should have been released much earlier.
The recently declassified FBI document, an FD-1023 form released by Senator Chuck Grassley, alleges that then-Vice President Joe Biden and Hunter Biden pressured Burisma CEO Mykola Zlochevsky for millions of dollars. This alleged payment was purportedly in exchange for their assistance in removing the Ukrainian prosecutor investigating Burisma. Senator Grassley stated he released the document to allow the public to assess the information directly, unfiltered by politicians or officials.
The FD-1023 form, based on information from a "highly credible" confidential source, details numerous meetings and conversations between the source and a top Burisma executive starting in 2015, a period when Hunter Biden served on Burisma's board. This release has intensified calls from some Republicans for President Biden's impeachment.
